Can Partizan 1953 Break the Curse Against Tresnjevka 2009?

The WABA League action continues as Tresnjevka 2009 hosts Partizan 1953 in Zagreb tomorrow..

The Croatian side enters the matchup hungry for a breakthrough. Tresnjevka 2009 has already played two regional games this season and suffered two heavy defeats against powerhouse Cinkarna Celje (53-83 and 50-89). However, they have shown much better form in the domestic championship. With a 2-1 record in the Croatian league, they’ve only lost once on road, to reigning champions Brod na Savi.

For Partizan 1953, this trip to Zagreb marks their highly anticipated WABA League season opener. The black-and-whites were originally scheduled to play Beroe on October 14th, but the game was postponed to next week, making this their first regional test. In sharp contrast to their delayed start in the WABA League, Partizan 1953 has been absolutely dominant back home. They remain undefeated in the Serbian Championship with a perfect 5-0 record.

They bring plenty of momentum and confidence into this fixture.

History heavily favors the hosts when playing in the Croatian capital. Partizan 1953 has lost all three of their previous away games against Tresnjevka 2009 in Zagreb. The two teams last met in the 2024/25 season, when Tresnjevka 2009 swept the series with two convincing wins, 86-56 at home and 69-60 in Belgrade.

This game also marks a historic milestone on the Belgrade bench. The 30-year-old head coach, Milan Milanovic, will make his official WABA League debut, becoming the eighth head coach to lead Partizan 1953 in this regional competition.

Will Tresnjevka 2009 protect their home court and maintain their perfect historical record against Partizan in Zagreb, or can coach Milanovic debut with a historic first-ever away win in Croatia?
