WABA 2: Ex Slovenian National Team player Sara Vujacic Re-Joins Maribor
Maribor has locked in a major roster upgrade by welcoming back former player and Slovenian national team guard Sara Vujacic (180 cm, 1996). The experienced 30-year-old will return to her hometown court, bringing veteran leadership and a sharp offensive edge as the team looks to make a strong impact in the WABA 2 League.
This move marks a significant homecoming for Vujacic, who first suited up for Maribor between 2011 and 2013 before returning to help the team close out the final stretch of the 2015/16 season.
Since her early years in Slovenia, she has built an extensive international career, starting with a stint in American college basketball where she played in the NCAA for the University of Maryland, and later showcasing her skills for diverse European clubs across Spain—including CAB Estepona, Al-Qazeres, Picken Claret, Boet Mataró, and AzulMarino—as well as enjoying competitive professional stints in Italy with Vicenza and in Germany with TSV 1880 Wasserburg.
She returns to Maribor after an impressive individual campaign in Poland last year, where she was a key contributor for historic Wisła Kraków. Over 20 Polish championship appearances last season, Vujacic proved her efficiency on both ends of the floor, averaging 11.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.3 steals per game, making her one of the most exciting domestic returns to follow in the WABA 2 League this year.
