New-Look Beroe Hosts Partizan 1953 After Quick-Turnaround Rematch

A quick-turnover rematch takes center stage in the WABA League as tomorrow Beroe hosts Partizan 1953 just seven days after their clash in Belgrade, with the Bulgarian side boasting a heavily reinforced roster.

The two teams faced each other last Wednesday in the Serbian capital (Partizan 1953 won by 99-53), but tomorrow’s encounter in Stara Zagora promises a completely different dynamic.

Beroe enters tomorrow’s matchup significantly stronger, as they will be able to count on four new players who are set to make their WABA League debut for the club. The new reinforcement package has already made an immediate impact over the weekend in the Bulgarian domestic championship.

Beroe cruised to a dominant 71-45 victory against Champion 2006 in Sofia, where the four newcomers completely ran the show and emerged as the team’s top scorers: Kaia Harrison led the charge with a game-high 17 points, Teodora Dineva and Britney Autry added 11 points each and Janson Otto contributed 9 points off the bench.

Meanwhile, Partizan 1953 arrives in Bulgaria eager to shake off their first slip-up of the season. On Saturday, the Belgrade squad suffered their first defeat across all competitions. In a highly anticipated Serbian championship derby featuring the league’s only two undefeated teams, Partizan 1953 fell 77-86 to EuroLeague side Crvena zvezda. Jessica Timmons and Sasa Vasiljevic both scored 15 points.
