WABA Unveils 11 Teams from 6 Countries for the 2026/27 Season

The WABA League is thrilled to announce the official lineup for the upcoming 2026/27 WABA 1 season. A total of 11 clubs representing six different countries will compete in what promises to be one of the most exciting campaigns in recent history.

Returning Powerhouses and Familiar Faces

Six teams from last season are back to fight for the prestigious regional title. The grid is headlined by the reigning champions, Montana 2003, alongside perennial regional powerhouses Cinkarna Celje and Buducnost Bemax. Joining them once again are Partizan 1953, Rilski Sportist, and Studio Zagreb, ensuring the continuation of fierce, high-level rivalries.

Welcome Back and Historical Returns

The new season welcomes back two familiar names after a one-year hiatus: Bulgaria’s Beroe and Croatia’s Tresnjevka 2009. Furthermore, in a highly anticipated comeback, five-time WABA league champion Sibenik returns to the regional stage after a decade and a half away from the competition.

New Frontiers and League Debuts

History will be made this season with two debutants entering the league. Croatia’s Brod na Savi will make their first-ever appearance, alongside Partizani from Tirana. Partizani’s entry marks a historic milestone as they become the first-ever club from Albania to participate in the WABA League.

A Historic Absence

Regrettably, for the first time in the long and rich history of the WABA League, the upcoming season will feature no participating clubs from Bosnia and Herzegovina. The league expresses its disappointment over this unprecedented absence but remains hopeful for the return of Bosnian teams in the near future.

Draw and Annual Assembly Details

The official draw for this landmark 26th consecutive season will take place on Friday, August 7, in Slavonski Brod, Croatia. The draw will be conducted during the league’s regular Annual General Assembly, where team representatives will finalize the competition calendar.
