WABA League Record-Holders Launch the 26th Season

Buducnost Bemax, Cinkarna Celje, and Sibenik have collectively won an impressive 14 WABA League championship titles. Meanwhile, Tresnjevka 2009 dominates the next generation with nine youth league titles. Tomorrow, these historic record-holders will officially tip off the 26th season of the WABA League.

 

Buducnost Bemax vs. Sibenik: A Historic Rivalry Renewed

Buducnost and Jolly JBS Sibenik shared a fierce rivalry in the WABA League between 2004 and 2009.

Over those five seasons, they met 10 times. The team from Podgorica managed to come out on top only during the 2007/08 season, securing a 71–61 road win in Sibenik before defending their home court with a 72–63 victory.

Their final regional clash came on November 20, 2008, when Šibenik Jolly JBS won 89–73 in Podgorica.

 

Tresnjevka 2009 vs. Cinkarna Celje: Slovenian Dominance

Tresnjevka 2009 and Cinkarna Celje have met six times in WABA seasons, with the Slovenian powerhouse dominating every encounter.

In Zagreb, Celje’s margins of victory have been overwhelming, ranging from 23 to 51 points.

The two teams last met in the regional league on March 5, 2025, in Zagreb, where Cinkarna Celje cruised to a comfortable 78–54 victory.
