Povratak Šibenika nakon 15 godina

Sa novom sezonom 2026/27 se u WABA ligu nakon decenije i pol vrača peterostruki prvak Šibenik.

Šibenik je bil redovan učesnik WABA lige od osnutka 2001. godine i sve do 2011.godine kada je osvojio svoj posljednji trofej. Prvak WABA lige je bio još 2005., 2006., 2008 i 2009.godine.

„Zahvaljujući plasmanu u finale prvenstva Hrvatske izborili smo direktan plasman u WABA ligu bez pozivnice. Odlučili smo da se nakon 15 godina vratimo u ligu i tako omogučimo igračicama veći broj utakmica i više kvalitete, jer su ekipe kao što su aktualni prvak Montana 2003, Cinkarna Celje, Budućnost Bemax sigurno vrlo respektabilne i izazovne za nas u ovom trenutku. Jasno je da nemamo ambicije kao prije u vrijeme Jollya, kada smo pet puta osvajali ligu, ali igranje i skupljanje iskustva će sigurno biti vrijedno za našu ekipu u ovom trenutku,“ rekao je trener Stipe Bralić koji je WABA ligu osvojio 2008. i 2010.godine.

Sibenik returns to the WABA after a decade and a half

With the new 2026-27 season, five-time champion Sibenik returns to the WABA League after a decade and a half.

Sibenik was a regular participant in the WABA League from its inception in 2001 until 2011, when it won its last trophy. It was the WABA League champion also in 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2009.

“Thanks to our placement in the final of the Croatian Championship, we secured direct qualification for the 2026 WABA League, bypassing the wild-card process. Our decision to rejoin the league after a 15-year absence aims to provide our players with a greater number of competitive matches. Opponents such as the current champions, Montana 2003, Cinkarna Celje, and Buducnost Bemax represent a significant and respectable challenge for us at this time. Although our current ambitions differ from the Jolly era – during which we claimed five league titles – the opportunity to compete and gain experience will undoubtedly benefit our development,” said coach Stipe Bralic, who won the WABA League in 2008 and 2010.
