Celje – grad sporta i šampiona

Celje je treći puta domaćin WABA Final-Foura i svim akterima su dobrodošlicu izrekli gradonačelnik Matija Kovač i Borut Kop, predsjednik ŽKK Cinkarna Celje.

Celje – mesto športa in vrhunskih dosežkov

Celje je mesto z bogato športno tradicijo, ki že desetletja dokazuje, da je prava zibelka talentov in zmagovalne miselnosti. Od individualnih prvakov do ekipnih uspehov – šport je del naše identitete, nekaj, kar nas povezuje in navdihuje. Košarka je v Celju še posebej pomembna, saj smo tukaj priča izjemni zgodbi uspeha, ki jo že več kot tri desetletja piše ŽKK Cinkarna Celje.

Košarkarice našega kluba so skozi leta dokazale, da sodijo v sam vrh regijske klubske košarkarske scene. S svojo predanostjo, delom in ambicijami so si izborile spoštovanje na mednarodni ravni in so ponos Celja ter celotne Slovenije. Večkratne državne prvakinje, serijske pokalne zmagovalke in eden najbolj prepoznavnih klubov v regiji – to je ŽKK Cinkarna Celje, klub, ki ne le gradi uspešne kariere mladih športnic, ampak tudi navdihuje prihodnje generacije.

Zato je še toliko večji privilegij, da Celje gosti finalni turnir ženske lige WABA. To je priložnost, da v našem mestu pozdravimo najboljše ekipe regije, da znova pokažemo strast do športa in podporo ženski košarki. Prepričan sem, da bomo v dvorani poskrbeli za pravo športno vzdušje in da bodo igralke na parketu pustile srce ter navdušile z izjemnimi predstavami.

Vsem ekipam želim veliko uspeha, navijačem pa nepozabne košarkarske trenutke. Naj zmaga najboljša ekipa – in naj košarka še naprej združuje ljudi in piše nove zgodbe uspeha!

»Zelo smo ponosni, da nam je WABA liga zaupala organizacijo Final Four-a za sezono 2024/25. V našem mestu in naši dvorani smo že gostili evropsko prvenstvo za mladinke 2015 in WABA Final-Foura 2015 in 2019, tako da imamo nekaj izkušenj z organizacijo pomembnih mednarodnih tekmovanj. Zahvaljujem se Mestni občini Celje z županom Matijo Kovačem na čelu in našemu generalnemu pokrovitelju Cinkarni, d.d., ki prevzema generalno pokroviteljstvo turnirja WABA Final Four 2025.

V izjemno čast nam je, da je generalno pokroviteljstvo nad turnirjem prevzela predsednica Republike Slovenije dr. Nataša Pirc Musar.”

Celje – a city of sports and top achievements

Celje is a city with a rich sports tradition, proving for decades that it is a true cradle of talent and a winning mentality. From individual champions to team successes – sport is part of our identity, connecting and inspiring us. Basketball is particularly important in Celje, as we are witnessing an exceptional success story here, which has been written by WBC Cinkarna Celje for more than three decades.

Over the years, the basketball players of our club have proven that they belong at the very top of the regional club basketball scene. With their dedication, work and ambition, they have earned respect at the international level and are the pride of Celje and the whole of Slovenia. Multiple national champions, serial cup winners and one of the most recognizable clubs in the region – this is WBC Cinkarna Celje, a club that not only builds successful careers for young athletes but also inspires future generations.

Therefore, it is an even greater privilege that Celje is hosting the final tournament of the WABA League. This is an opportunity to welcome the best teams in the region to our city, to once again show our passion for sports and support for women’s basketball. I am sure that we will provide a real sporting atmosphere in the hall and that the players will leave their hearts on the court and impress with exceptional performances.

In history we hosted in our city and our hall European championship for juniors 2015 and WABA Final Fours 2015 and 2019, so we have some experience with the organization of important international competitions.
