Sibenik Stuns Buducnost Bemax to Snap Historic 56-Game Home Winning Streak

The five-time WABA League champions, Sibenik, made a triumphant and historic return to the regional stage after a 15-year absence, pulling off a sensational 73-69 upset in Podgorica.

By defeating Buducnost Bemax, Coach Stipe Bralic’s squad shattered the host’s incredible 56-game regular-season home winning streak. This marks Budućnost’s very first defeat in this phase of the competition since January 24, 2019, when they lost to Beroe (64-65).

The game was a tactical masterclass in endurance and efficiency for the Croatian side. Remarkably, Sibenik scored all 73 points exclusively through their starting five, with Taylor Golembiewski leading the way with a stellar double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds. Andjela Strize added 16 points, Mia Vuksic hit four triples for 12 points, Jade Marmillod put up a strong double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds, and Ivana Ujevic rounded out the starters with 10 points. Despite the heavy minutes, Sibenik remained incredibly disciplined, never letting the game slip away, with their largest deficit in the match being just 2 points.

Buducnost Bemax found themselves in deep trouble early, trailing 37-49 in the 23rd minute. However, the powerhouse from Podgorica staged a furious comeback led by Atina Radevic (24 points, 12 rebounds) and Chantae Embry (14 points, 14 rebounds), briefly taking the lead at 58-56 at the start of the fourth quarter. Just as the home crowd rallied, Golembiewski stepped up for Sibenik, scoring five consecutive points to silence the arena and firmly put her team back on track for a historic victory.
