Brod na Savi sa Rumunjkom Anamaria Viroghe
Nakon više od desetljeća je u WABA ligi ponovo igračica iz Rumunjske. Novo pojačanje Broda na Savi je centar Anamaria Virjoghe (196 cm, 1999). Posljednja rumunjska igračica u WABA ligi je bila Simina Mandache u sezoni 2014/15 u redovima Reyer Umania Venezije.
Virjoghe je prošlu sezonu počela u Litvi kod Kibirkstis Vilniusa. Sredinom novembra je prešla u Gran Canariu (Španjolsku), a za kraj sezonu se je vratila u Rumunjsku kod Municipal Targovista. Odigrala je završnicu prvenstva te na 8 utakmica play-offa u prosjeku igral po 26 minuta i bilježila po 11.1 poena, 6.3 skokova, 1.0 asistencija i 1.5 blokada.
U karijeri je igrala još u SAD (Gonzaga University), Grčkoj (Esperides Kalliotheas), Belgiji (Namur), Australiji (Kilsyth Lady Cobras) te u Rumunjskoj za Arad.
Reprezentativka Rumunjske je bila u tri ciklusa kvalifikacija za prvenstvo Europe (2023, 2025, 2027) te u sve tri mlađedobne reprezentacije na ukupnom pet europskih prvenstava divizije B.
A Romanian player returns to the WABA League after more than a decade
For the first time in over ten years, a player from Romania will feature in the WABA League. Brod na Savi’s new signing is center Anamaria Virjoghe (196 cm, 1999). The last Romanian to play in the league was Simina Mandache, who suited up for Reyer Umana Venezia in the 2014/15 season.
Virjoghe began last season in Lithuania with Kibirkštis Vilnius before moving to Gran Canaria (Spain) in mid-November. She returned to Romania at the end of the season with Municipal Târgoviște, where she played out the championship, averaging 26 minutes across 8 play-off games and recording 11.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists, and 1.5 blocks per game.
Over the course of her career, she has also played in the USA (Gonzaga University), Greece (Esperides Kallitheas), Belgium (Namur), Australia (Kilsyth Lady Cobras), and in Romania for Arad.
A member of the Romanian national team, Virjoghe has been part of three European Championship qualifying cycles (2023, 2025, 2027) and represented every Romanian youth national team across a total of five Division B European Championships (2015-2019).
