2017 WABA SF #2: Beroe-Budućnost Bemax 66:64 (Video & Photo)

U prvoj sezoni u WABA ligi je Beroe izborio finale te će za naslov igrati protiv Athlete Celja. Bugarke su u dramatičnom drugom polufinalu pobedile aktualnog šampiona Budućnost Bemax sa 66:64.

Beroe dethtoned defending champion Buducnost and move on the the finals in their inaugural WABA season.Bulgarian club beat the Montenegrin serial champion 66-64.

Oslabljena Budućnost, sa svega šest igračica u rotaciji, bez povrijeđenih Kristine Topuzović i Tamare Kapor, u posljednjoj četvrtini je dva puta imala plus pet (57:52 i 59:54), ali su gošče preokrenule.

Podgoričanke su imale napad za pobjedu, ali je Irena Matović promašila trojku (iz igre šutirala 22-8). Umorni tim Gorana Boškovića nije dao koš iz igre u posljednjih šest i po minuta, tokom kojih je pogodio samo tri od šest slobodnih bacanja…(vijesti.me)

Goran Bošković, trener Budućnosti Bemaxa: »Za nas teška utakmica zbog suženog rostera. Igrali smo, koliko smo mogli i možda smo u prvom poluvrijemenu trebali napraviti veću razliku. Beroe se je nakon odmora vratio u utakmicu, ali smo na kraju mi imali šut za pobjedu koji nije ušao.  Takav je sport.«

Buducnost’s Irena Matovic missed an open 3-point attempt with two seconds left, Bozica Mujovic grabbed an offensive rebound and was blocked in her attempt to send the game into the overtime. Regular season MVP Monique Reid led Beroe with 22 points,11 rebounds and 5 assists and Milena Tomova scored 14 points, both off the bench.

Buducnost made an early 11-2 run fora 14-6 lead and later extended their advantage to 27-16 early in the second quarter. At that point on, Beroe scored 11 consecutive points to tie the game at 27 and then went on a 7-0 run to go up 34-30. Monique Reid scored douzen points including two pointers in that 18-3 span. Buducnost responded with nine straight points to re-take the lead 39-34 and the home team was ahead 48-42 midway thrugh the third quarter. Beroe tied the score at 48 and went on a 10-2 run that turn a five-point deficit into a 64-61 lead with less than three minutes remaining. Irena Matovic missed both free throws and Aminata Fall made just one of two foul shots to reduce the score to 62-64. Milena Tomova then scored for Beroe and Aminata Fall again cut the deficit to two.Milena Tomova missed both foul shots with 17 seconds left and Buducnost had the final  possession,but last season’s Final-Four MVP Irena Matovic a potential  game-winning 3-pointer.

Irena Matovic scored 21 points on shooting 8-of-22 from the field, Aminata Fall had 13 points and 13 rebounds and Nikolina Babic added 12 points.
